The Platform for Agents You Control

Agents are becoming the way organizations use AI. VanillaAI gives them a home you control: an isolated runtime, a central gateway, and your knowledge, on your hardware.

VanillaAI architecture: VanillaStack, Kubernetes-based agent runtime, AI agents, AI gateway, local AI infrastructure and frontier LLMs

The stack is 100% open source and runs on-premises, in private clouds, and in public clouds. It supports agentic approaches and existing open-source agents. Every layer is replaceable. Agents run isolated on a Kubernetes-based runtime on top of VanillaStack, and all model access, local or frontier, flows through one AI gateway. There are no licensing fees and no vendor lock-in.

Control and Governance

The AI gateway is the control point of the stack. Every agent and every user reaches models through it, whether the model runs on your hardware or at a frontier provider:

  • Compliance: policies decide which workload may use which model with which data
  • Auditability: every request is logged and attributable
  • Model routing: local models by default, frontier LLMs only when a task requires them
  • Cost control: one place to see and steer what AI usage actually costs

This is what makes AI usable in regulated environments: enterprises, public sector, and government programs.

Agent Runtime

Agents run on a Kubernetes-based runtime with strict isolation per agent. The runtime supports existing open-source agents and agentic frameworks. Security comes from the architecture: separated workloads, defined network paths, no shared state between agents.

Models and Hardware

The stack runs any open-source or free-of-charge model and scales out to frontier LLMs through the gateway when a task requires it:

  • Commodity infrastructure: consumer GPUs, DGX Spark, standard servers with CUDA or ROCm
  • GPU sharing across workloads through Kubernetes, without expensive middleware
  • Model choice per use-case, changed without re-architecting
  • No token-based platform costs for local models

VanillaAI models and hardware: open-source models on Kubernetes GPU sharing over commodity infrastructure, with frontier LLMs through the AI gateway when required

Centralized Knowledge

Agents are only as useful as the knowledge they work with. The stack connects to centralized, curated organizational knowledge that both your people and your agents consume. Structured in layers from foundational to organization-specific, kept current, without expensive model training.

This is where VanillaBrain and our AI Enablement approach plug in.

Use-Cases

What organizations build on the stack, from running solutions to scenarios we design for enterprises and governments. Reach out to discuss your own use-case:

ESG Assistant

Custom Solution based upon VanillaAI to process ESG Regulations, a diverse range of data sources (including Word-Documents and PDFs), create Checklists, create ESG-Report Drafts, and to query the data using a Chat-frontend.

Hospitality Solution

Custom Solution utilizing Generative AI and Machine Learning to predict bookings, occupations, prices, and to correlate them with each other. Create Offers and analyze competitor websites. Performs Benchmarking on data.

Document Management

Custom Solution to perform OCR on scanned / sent documents regardless of their format, to analyze their content, to assign them to different document- and object-types, and to trigger additional workflows based upon content and state.

Organizational Second Brain

Centralized, curated knowledge for a whole organization, queryable by staff and by agents. Continuously aggregated from documents, decisions, and running systems, with access control per audience.

Agent Fleet for Operations

Isolated agents that watch, summarize, and act on platform and business events. Every model call passes the AI gateway, so the fleet stays compliant, auditable, and within budget.

Citizen Services Assistant

A multilingual assistant for citizen-facing services, running on sovereign infrastructure. Connected to registers and case systems through defined interfaces, with a full audit trail for every interaction.

Regulatory Compliance Monitoring

Agents that track regulation such as the EU AI Act and NIS2, map changes to internal policies, and draft impact assessments for the compliance team to review.

National AI Platform

Shared, sovereign AI infrastructure for ministries and agencies. One central gateway for governance and cost control, per-agency isolation, and capacity building for the teams that run it.

Knowledge Continuity

The expertise of retiring specialists, captured into an organizational second brain before it walks out the door. Queryable by successors and by agents that support them.
